Artist Bio

Tyler Boles is a glass artist working in Duluth, MN.

Tyler fell in love with the challenging process of taking molten glass and coaxing it into a piece of art.  His glass blowing experience began 25 years ago at UW River Falls.  After a few years of dedication he had the beginnings of the skillset required to work with this magical medium.  At that time, he also began the journey of fatherhood, in addition to starting a business.  With the demands of three kids and running the business, Tyler drifted away from the world of glassblowing but always hoped to return.  Now, more than 2 decades later, he has returned with renewed dedication and inspiration.

Tyler enjoys making sculptural items as well as functional objects to be used and admired. Working with molten glass is an ancient skill, and Tyler embraces the craftmanship side of glassblowing, making elegant shapes with deft movements and steady hands. While striving to master the craft, Tyler adds his artistic flair to each piece he creates.

Tyler recharges his battery from spending time in nature.  He has deep interest in all things ecological, and will forever be intrigued by the plants, animals, microbes and weather that make life on this wonderful planet.  He has a fascination with dark entities such as ghosts, devils, demons, and other scary things which also influence his work.

Tyler currently works full time at Lake Superior Art Glass in Duluth Minnesota. You can see him there teaching classes, doing demonstrations for the public, and making production items for the gallery. He often works in the studio afterhours on his own creations.
